POHAG, (Post Office Hill Action Group) manages 22.6 hectares of public land on behalf of the community. The land surrounds Chewton P.S.

These gates commemorate those who served in the First World War, Second World War, Korea, Malaya and Vietnam. Services are held here each ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.

Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre provides free legal information and advice to Central Victorians who can’t afford a lawyer or who can’t get legal aid. You do not need a referral to access our services.

Castlemaine District Community Health (CDCH) offers a wide range of services and programs aimed at promoting health and preventing illness.

Chewton CFA responds to approximately 60 emergencies per year, including grass, scrub and structure fires. We also support other local brigades during the fire season. New members welcome.

Repair Cafe is on the last Sunday of the month in the Castlemaine Community House (enter at rear) - 10am to 1pm. Learn to repair things, not throw them out to landfill.

Connecting Country is a community-based not-for-profit organisation that aims to nurture biodiversity and increase ecosystem resilience across the Mount Alexander Shire and surrounds.

CCH deliver educational and vocational training as well as a weekly community lunch. We aim to promote social inclusion and gender equity within our community.'

Conveniently located on the main road in Chewton, this spacious venue has all the characteristics of a traditional hall. The perfect venue for community events or social gatherings.

Chewton Landcare has worked in projects along Forest Creek and the Whitehorse Gully area. Recent emphasis has been on Wattle Flat south of the railway line.

The Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park (CDNHP) is the only National Heritage Park in Australia. There is an emphasis on protecting the goldfields landscape and visions of it.

The Chewton Bushlands is inhabited by an eclectic crew of full timers and weekenders, long time residents and welcome newcomers, all living off-grid in a unique and often difficult environment.

Castlemaine Library has extensive book, DVD & magazine collections. Free Library membership offers story times, Seed Library, literary events. IT help, wifi, internet computers, copying & printing.

The Club gets together every Thursday.
We have a monthly itinerary which includes, various activities ie: games, concerts, film shows. We also have trips out throughout the year and lunch in the club room on the last Thursday of the month, which is catered for and delivered.

Chewton Bowmen is a friendly target archery club with experienced archers to coach and guide new-comers to the sport. The club supplies all equipment for beginners and has great facilities, including an indoor range.

Mount Alexander Shire Council provides local governance to a community of more than 18,000 residents, inhabiting an area of 1,529 square kilometres.

We’re mainly a social group, and very welcoming. We gather at Dunstans Flat, formerly known as the Faraday Common.

The club represents the entire Mt Alexander Shire and the ground is based at the Chewton Soldiers’ Memorial Park. Join a team at any age level or become a volunteer!

A non-profit organisation where retired/semi-retired people can share and learn through attending courses, coffee mornings and social activities. Membership fee is $40.

Golden Point Landcare works in the Forest Creek catchment improving the natural environment. Activities are advertised monthly in the Chewton Chat.

Chewton Pool Inc was formed and incorporated, the pool renovated and opened on December 3, 2011. Record numbers have been using the pool since.

Holy Communion with Hymns and music at St John's Chewton at 11am every Sunday. All welcome!

Mt Alexander Community Enterprise Inc is a volunteer community group raising funds for local projects through a contribution from Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco.

The heritage building and stunning bush setting on Djarra Country make Chewton Primary School a welcoming and unique learning place for children from the Castlemaine area.

We have guest speakers, workshops, competition judging nights and members’ forums on topics of interest and run monthly meetings.

Natural History Studies in Central Victoria. Meetings are held on the second Friday each month at 7.30 pm, in the Uniting Church Hall, Lyttleton Street.
